Bid Rules
The idea of a reverse auction is that a player aims to be the lowest and unique bidder on an item, and the bid has to be one which no other player has made i.e. the lowest unique bid.
For each auction there is a reserve, the minimum number of bids needed before the auction can close.
At the close of the auction, whoever has placed the lowest unique bid will be entitled to purchase the product/service for the cost of that bid.
How Do You Win
You should use your skill and judgement to develop a winning strategy.
The variation from the traditional style auction system is the auction result is awarded to the Lowest Unique Bid when the predetermined Required Number/time of Bids has been met and the auction is closed. Each Bidder is required to pay an Administration Fee in order to place a Bid. This is best illustrated with the following example:

At the end of the auction the lowest ten bids may look like this :

RENOWNED Hong Kong actress and comedian Lydia Sum Tin-ha died
RENOWNED Hong Kong actress and comedian Lydia Sum Tin-ha died of liver cancer at Queen Elizabeth Hospital early this morning. She was 60.
In September, Sum, fondly known as Fei Fei, was admitted to hospital for a cholelithotomy to have 32 gallstones extracted. Then, she was diagnosed with cancer of the liver and gallbladder.
Doctors at the hospital removed a 2.7-kilogram tumor after an eight-hour long operation and, since then, she has been in and out of hospital.
Sum leaves behind her 20-year-old daughter Joyce Cheng Yan-yee.
Hong Kong Chief Executive Donald Tsang mourned Sum's death.
Born in Shanghai in 1947, Sum started acting when she was 13 and soon became popular despite being overweight because of her good spirit, comedy talent and enormous energy.
With her signature wing-tip frame coke bottle glasses and big hair, she stood out as one of the most endearing and recognizable entertainment icons in Hong Kong, where she remained popular for nearly five decades.
She acted in more than 100 movies in Hong Kong and hosted more than 5,000 episodes of variety shows. Her credits also include a starring role in the Singaporean English-language sit-com "Living with Lydia."
She was the first wife of Hong Kong actor Adam Cheng Siu Chau and the couple broke up in 1988, just one year after their daughter was born.
After the divorce, she returned to films and television and had been co-host of the Hong King Film Award ceremonies for several years while also performing in TV shows.

The father-and-son relation was not touched on in his previous works; and science fiction is something new in Chinese cinema.
The story is about a child who becomes friends with an alien, in the form of a dog. If you can see a parallel between Chow's story and Steven Spielberg's E.T. you are right.
The computer-generated dog named Changjiang Qihao.Chow's inspiration for this film began some 20 years ago when he saw E.T. at the theater. He was enthralled.
"I watched it many times," Chow said while promoting the film last week in Beijing.
"I was amazed that science fiction could be filmed like that. I knew then I wanted to make a movie like that.
"Spielberg's work inspired me to become a director."
The comedian who grew up in a single-parent family is not a father yet and did not have that experience to draw from.
To add authenticity, Chow interviewed many fathers and also asked the child actors how their fathers behave. Memories of living with his own father, before his parents separated, also shed some light.
"My father would lie down and hold me up high in bed," Chow says.
"And I remember when I was young I wanted a toy, which made my father and mother quarrel on the street. These scenes all appear in the film."
Chow believes dogs are something both children and adults will love, so he cast a dog to play the alien.
In the film the computer-generated dog named Changjiang Qihao (CJ7, or Yangtze River Number Seven) has a big, white, furry head, cute black eyes and a green body. Chow confirms it is modeled upon his own pet BullBull.
BullBull was the first dog Chow bought. One day, after BullBull got cancer, it barked at Chow who was hurrying to work.

Tan disappointed, upset with Lingam
KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Vincent Tan was upset and disappointed with Datuk V.K. Lingam after he saw the video clip implicating the two of them, the Royal Commission of Inquiry was told.
Despite initially describing their ties as friendly, the 55-year-old business tycoon said he would now have to re-evaluate his relationship with the lawyer after seeing the controversial video, which surfaced last September.
Tan said his relationship with Lingam began as that of a lawyer and client when Lingam acted for him and his company, Berjaya Corp Bhd.
He said they became friendlier as time passed following their good working relationship.
Tan said he was always impressed with Lingam, describing him as a diligent lawyer who sometimes stayed cooped in a hotel room for days to do his research.
However, Tan denied that he and Lingam were “extremely close” as suggested by lawyer Wee Choo Keong, counsel for Lingam’s brother V. Thirunama Karasu.
“I’m not extremely close to V.K. Lingam. I’m only close to the woman I love. And no, I don’t love men,” he said.
Commission chairman Tan Sri Haidar Mohd Noor then reminded the tycoon to not give answers that were beyond the scope of the questions.
Tan apologised and continued to answer the question.
Tan: No, I’m not close to him. He’s my lawyer. We are friendly. If you are a good and capable lawyer, I will also be friendly with you.
Wee: Will you make me a director of your company?
Tan: Yes, if your service is good. But no, not with your reputation.
Haidar again reminded the witness and counsel to observe decorum during the proceedings.
Wee then asked Tan, who previously owned Mutiara Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (now known as Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd), whether he knew if Lingam had a Digi number.
Tan: I think that is a stupid question. Maybe he was a subscriber at that time. Millions of people are our subscribers. I don’t know.
Wee: Do you know if Tun Eusoff Chin was also a subscriber of Digi at that time?
Tan: I don’t know. As I said earlier...
Haidar and Commissioner Datuk Mahadev Shankar immediately cut the witness off and reminded him to keep his answers short for his own benefit.
To questions by Malaysian Bar counsel Yeo Yang Poh, Tan said Lingam was “talking rubbish and bragging so much” in the clip.
“He said he can scold me. The fact is we pay him so much for his fees. I don’t understand why he needed to brag so much. Because of this, I’m disappointed.
“We obviously need to re-evaluate our relationship. He made a fool of himself. But then I don’t want him to think that at this difficult time, we are abandoning him.
“We’ll try to be objective and at the same time, I’ll try to be compassionate,” he said.
Tan also denied all the allegations against him in the video clip, describing them as ridiculous lies.
He found the suggestion that Lingam had made use of him preposterous, saying: “He thinks that I’m so stupid that he can use me?”
On the allegation that he had the means to secure a “Tan Sri-ship” for the person Lingam was allegedly speaking to in the clip, Tan said he wished he was really that powerful.
He also denied having influenced former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to appoint Tun Ahmad Fairuz Sheikh Abdul Halim as president of the Court of Appeal.
“If I had such influence, I’d have gotten a lot of projects. This is none of my business,” he said.
Explaining his relationship with Dr Mahathir, Tan said they met in the early 1980s when he brought McDonald's to Malaysia.
“He wanted to know more about the franchise and I was contacted to meet him. We became friendly. He is a very good man, a visionary, very helpful.
“I owe whatever success I have in business to him,” he said, adding that he was very grateful to the former premier.
He said his relationship with Dr Mahathir began on a professional basis.
“He was the Prime Minister of the country for a long time. He is a very powerful man. I don’t want to go around claiming he’s my good friend.
“But I'm very pleased that he said I’m an old friend,” he said.
On his relationship with Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, Tan said they met some time in the 1980s or 1990s.
“He was introduced to me by a member of the Pahang royal family. I became his business associate later. I find him a very pleasant person, very likeable.”
Tan said he did not spend much time with Tengku Adnan once the latter went into politics.
